RADAR ALERT:
Sen. Biden: "I Wrote the Violence Against Women Act."

This past weekend Barack Obama named Joseph Biden as his vice presidential running mate. In his newly-released campaign video, Sen. Biden highlights his legislative accomplishments and then brags, "most proudly, I wrote the Violence Against Women Act." http://my.barackobama.com/page/invite/bidendtc

Fourteen years after it was first passed into law, it is now clear that VAWA has gone off the rails. True, it has helped some persons. But its overall effect has been negative, harming victims, families, and children.

RADAR believes every American voter needs to know that VAWA has become one of the most harmful pieces of social legislation ever passed into law. That damning statement is documented in a stunning series of Reports that can be seen here: http://mediaradar.org/reports.php

Very simply, we need to get 3 simple messages out:

  1. VP candidate Joseph Biden was indeed the moving force behind VAWA.
  2. VAWA has caused incalculable harm to families and children.
  3. We now call on lawmakers to "Fix VAWA Now!"

So this week, we call on you to harness your enthusiasm, imagination, and creativity.

How can you get the word out – Letters to the editor? Blogs? Email lists? Presentations to a club you belong to? Conversations with a friend? A surprise letter to your mother-in-law? A 50-foot banner behind an airplane?

The sky's the limit. It's up to us to do the job. Get the message out: "Fix VAWA Now!"

Whether you are a Democrat or a Republican, whether you plan to vote for Barack Obama or John McCain, it is vital that we get the word out: "Fix VAWA Now!"

Date of RADAR Release: August 25, 2008
